we run 4 users. is taking for ever and a day to open any
users. why is it taking so long

This could be that your users are using fast user
switching, your computer could be a tad slow, you could
need to increase the physical RAM, a specific program or
too many programs are running at the same time, someone
loaded a program on purpose or by accident which is
hogging up the computer's attention. You should consider
allowing someone to do remote assistance on your computer
who you trust if you don't know what to do. Or perhaps
call a friend for help. Looking into the configurations
of Windows and Registry are kind of dangerous so your best
bet is to read the knowledge base articles about
msconfig.exe and regedit.exe and also taskmanager.exe
first before doing anything and if you don't understand
perhaps consult someone who might be able to help diagnose
the problems.

My Uncle has similar problems. He runs his little <500MHz
386 Computer with 312MB of physical RAM and when I visit
he asks me why it is so slow, I go to fix it and then he
says it is no better and when I am trying to fix it he
says, "No don't stop that program from automatically
loading at startup because I like it and that one I need
for work." Heh, my cousin will often leave her chat
program running and my Aunt gets all mad when she tries to
send and receive mail and there's got to be like 20
programs loaded and the thing is way into virtual memory
usage and the processor is going bonkers thinking about
where memory stores are going to the hard drive to keep up
with the bandwidth and application usage of the three
users who just switched between one another rather than
using the logout button in Windows XP. My advice is to
begin by rebooting when you can before others use your
computer, and shutting down your computer to give it
necessary breaks :-)

John, You know when you have the 4 icons ononce you log
off it brings you back to the list of people if anyone
clicks on it takes for ever, so maybe its software thanks
for your help
