Computer not Booting

I just installed a new motherboard this afternoon. THe computer will not boot now, all the post works but it keeps going to a screen where I have the oppurtunity to bott into safe mode..I say ok it reboots to the same screen..some one said that I need to reinstall Windows XP (pro) does that sound correct....loosing all my programs and data?????
 
Have you tried doing an upgrade to XP?

you have to boot from your original Xp cd, You can chose to repair your installation or redo it. Either way you will not lose your stuff. To do the repair you have to know your administrator password otherwise you will have to re-install, But don't worry Xp keeps all your original settings and folders, It is a pain in the butt. But Microsoft does this to help eliminate illegal copying of Xp.
