computer not booting up - SP2 JUST installed

Nico

Hey

I installed SP2 just now on my dads computer. However
somethings stuffed up.

The installation says "sp2 has been installed blah
blah""restart now?"

I restarted, it begins loading windows, however around
5seconds later a blue screen comes up. I cannot read what
this blue screen says because it flash's for 0.2seconds
before restarting the computer. I've tried using the pause
butten, but no luck.

Ive tried loading windows with "last known working
configuration" didn't work...

Any ideas how to fix this?

Sys specs are

amd 2000xp
256MB ram
win xp home

thanks in advance

HI Nico,
If it is a "winsvr" error on a blue screen then check this article on the
microsoft website 875350. Uninstall SP2 from the Recovery control method
first, then modify the registry and then uninstall it from the addremove
program. comp will be very slow to boot up in these process. Having
uninstalled SP2 clean up all viruses and then the spywares.
www.microsoft.com/spyware. then try installing the Service Pack 2 (SP2)

Good Luck

I had the very same problem. When the system rebooted it
gave me a list of options to ry from - booting in Safe
Mode worked. Was able to go to control panel and select
Add/remove progtrams and uninstall Service pack 2 - hey
presto, windows works again.

Hi

The error is IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

We can't uninstall it through add remove programs, as 1/2
way through the uninstall it says file not found, and exits
the uninstall.

We are trying to re-install sp2 now, over the top of the
origional sp2 install.

Nico,

probably the known problem on AMD 64 processors. Please check
http://www.michna.com/kb/WxSP2.htm for details and workaround.
