1)Ran the advisor to check for compatability. stated to change vidio card and
add memory.
2)installed ATI Radeon x1300 512mb with ddr 2 memory /// and added 1gig
memory for a total of 1.512 gig

So the system specshp pavilion a700 n with a 3000+ belive amd with 1.512gig
memory and a 512 vidio card.

What happens is when checking email or browsing the web or playing guildwars
or any reason after 1-30 min system stops responding and have to do a hard
shut down and restart. Did a clean install let vista reformat the drive
before it installed itself said I could not upgrade windows xp pro to windows
vista prem home edition.

If, when you have to restart, does it then go another 30 minutes, or does it
fail much quicker? I'm wondering if its a heat issue - try running without
the case on for a while and see if problem recurs...

Did you install the most current drivers from the ATI website? There are
new drivers at the site posted April 18, 2007? Have you checked your device
manufacturer's websites to make sure the drivers for your other devices are
the latest Vista compatible drivers as well? Also, you might check Event
Viewer under Administrative Tools and go through the various tabs looking
for red errors, in your case, it's likely to be a repetitive error. The
information within the error may give a clue as to the source of this issue.

Thanks to you both. Getting the driver helped. It made it a little more
stable. But the heat is the problem I fear. With or with out the side cover
it lasts longer playing guid wars think between the vidio card working and
the processor just cant stand the stress and over heats causing the lock up.
Have a bathroom mositer removal fan box with a duck work blowing cool air
directly at the fan on the processor now that helps alot. Last now about
30-40 min looks like i may have to go back to the old operating system. Got
vista to have a legal system but what good is it if it causes my processer to
over heat.

Will try a new heat sink made from copper and a high speed cooling fan
Type: Double Ball Bearing
Fan Speed: 6800 R.P.M.
Airflow: 37.6 CFM

and a case fan to bring in more air taht fits an expansion slot

Airflow: 22 CFM
Speed: 2200 RPM

between the two it may help alot i hope.

If you read the first post plato you see I ran the upgrade advisor it said i
needed a better card and more mem. Did a clean install. locks up or frezzese
what ever term you want to use. seemed like heat problem so I added a another
acse fan 22 cfm and a copper heat sink with a fan on it 36 cfm still locks up
have a blower bloing cool air in to the vent holes on the side still
locks.way I see it micro soft is just ripping people off saying it will work
on their systems when in fact it does not. I even did a second clean install
same thing freezez even when you dont start up any thing. My recomdations to
anyone think of buying it . DONT buy a computer with it installed ONLY. Any
one wants to send me a athrzation code for WIndows xp pro please do.
