Computer locks up when switching between "User Accounts"

My computer gets locked up when we try to switch from one 'User account' to
another. It doesn't happen every time, but when we close one 'user' and when
the computer goes to a black screen, it never goes any further. The only
remedy is that I have to shut down the computer and restart. I have no idea
where to begin, any suggestions? Thank you.
 
Could it be the user account corrupted? Try creating 2 user accounts and test
switching between each other. If the problem doesn't occur on these two new
accounts. Then replace your current user accounts with new ones.
This might not be the best solution but is the easiest way out.
