I just purchased an HP a700n yesterday to replace an older PC, and I've been
trying to set up a Linksys Wireless-B WMP11 PCI adapter that had been running
on the older PC so it can connect to the home network I've set up (which runs
through a Linksys Wireless-B BEFW11S4 broadband router). What's going on is
after I install the PCI adapter, the new PC locks up completely after being
connected to the network for about a minute, necessitating a hard reset
(where it then, of course, does it again).
I've completely racked my brain for all possible recourses - I've tried
installing it on each of the PCI slots, I've tried running it with the
Ethernet port disabled and the dial-up modem removed (despite the Device
Manager never showing any conflicts) - I've even tried disabling Windows XP's
(the machine is running Home with SP2 pre-installed, so I can't remove SP2)
wireless management utility and using one from Linksys (which didn't work due
to numerous software error messages).
PLEASE HELP!
