Well the light comes on but then it just stops.

That happens a lot - just pack it up in the original box and send it back
with a note explaining that you are a moron.

Well, let's see here. I ain't the brightest one in the bunch, but I think
it needs a tie rod end and a new fuel pump.

Now, if you are serious here and not just trolling and wasting time, you
really need to post more information about the make of the machine, the
symptoms, and your skill level.

However, the information you gave earlier when you stated that it's a
"Philips 107B" doesn't help in the least and leads me to believe you are not
going to be able to solve any problems you have. The reason: That's your
monitor and NOT the computer! If you are confused in that area, chances are
pretty slim you'll do any good diddling around with any suggestions we have
to offer.

Why don't you run that fancy smancy auto-fix crap AOL is touting all of the
time on the commercials? You seem to fit right in with the AOL crowd.

OK enough sarcasm from me, but ff you took your car to the garage and said
'its broken', they would probably just laugh at you!

Before we can offer constructive help, we need to know what the problem is
and what equipment we are talking about. You are obviously a novice, but you
persist, so as we are nice people and we will try to help. Can you describe
the problem in a more detail than "the light doesn't come on any more". What
light? When did it stop coming on. What happened to stop the light coming
on. Have you tried another bulb in the light?

Lets eliminate everything until we are left with the problem part:
Have you tried a different power lead / checked the fuse in the plug?
Have you tried the monitor on another PC, have you tried a different monitor
on the problem PC?
Have you tried the keyboard and mouse on another PC and another keyboard and
mouse on the problem PC?
When you turn on the base unit (beige box) are there any noises? Can you
hear quiet fans spinning? Does the Num-Lock light come on on the keyboard.
Can you hear the hard disk spin. Does anything happen on the Monitor at all
or is it totally dead?

What equipment are we talking about:
If you are going to fix a broken PC, you are probably going to have to take
the lid off the case! What motherboard is inside (serial number / make).
What else is in there?
How old is the PC?
What processor does it have?
Is there a model number or serial number on the case (back perhaps)
anywhere? I don't mean the Windows Serial number.

It came on before and said fatal exeption and told me to restart it.
So I did and it said it again.
Sorry I dont know whats in it.It was ok before.

(And I wonder why I quit doing end user support...)

As mentioned previously, even if we offer advice, you are not going to know
what to do with it, so take the computer to a repair facility and be done
with it. Or, do as many helpless users do, buy a whole new computer from
Wal-Mart for $399.
