computer has slow start up

My computer has a slow startup when ever I turn it on . If you click on an
Icon it takes a few mintues to come up. What is the problem. It was not like
this when I first got it , it has just started lately

sorry this is not about the thread but i couldnt find how to make a new one,
so i'd like to know if i have a processor 64bit amd 3000+, is windows xp
32bit viable , I mean is it gonna use my 64bits on processor or simply gonna
use 32bits over the processor thx in advance
