Computer freezing

My computer kept freezing up, so my brother deleted everything, reinstalled
Windows XP and I am STILL having the same problem! I don't know what else we
can do?! Everytime I walk away from it for a couple minutes it freezes up,
also in the middle of when I am doing something, it freezes up also. I have
McAfee virus protection so I don't think that's the problem..... Any
suggestions are VERY appreciated! Thank you!!

Try downloading Speedfan.
It is a hardware monitoring program that will tell you what the CPU temp is,
(assuming your hardware supports it). If it is getting too hot it will your
PC will stop responding.

You could take the side off and check the CPU fan is spinning. If it is not
spinning, you will need to replace it, of course it could just be full of
dust etc..

If you boot to the BIOS is there a menu that reads PC health? Check that for
temp readings.

It could be drivers also. Did you download any updates from MS or anywhere
else before this started happening?

You could try getting something like Knoppix, which is a linux distro that
boots from a CD, and loads a fully functioning operating system without
touching the hard drive. If it doesn't freeze, that would point to drivers.

It could also be failing memory or HDD.

You should post more specs about your system.
