I'm having a problem with computer freezing. I read somewhere earlier today
to try a site. That reference advised to use Regclean software. Can I have
some thoughts on this subject. I've tried other options (e.g. restore ,
backup, upgrade virus protection (possible virus), nothing seems to work
freezes at random during installs, downloads, applications, etc

Could be a hardware problem. How much memory do you have installed?
Perhaps hard drive and/or memory going bad?? What AV program are you
using? Open Task Mananger and see what is happening when freeze occurs.
Maybe AV or other Anti-Malware scanners are clogging things up.

Avoid such software like the plague. It is highly unlikely to fix your
problem, and much more likely to cause further, more serious problems.

I strongly recommend *against* the routine use of registry cleaners. Routine
cleaning of the registry isn't needed and
is dangerous. Leave the registry alone and don't use any registry cleaner.
Despite what many people think, and what vendors of registry cleaning
software try to convince you of, having unused registry entries doesn't
really hurt you.

The risk of a serious problem caused by a registry cleaner erroneously
removing an entry you need is far greater than any potential benefit it may
have.

You mention virus protection, but you've said nothing about anti-spyware
software. Spyware is getting be an increasingly severe problem these days.

If you are experiencing random freezes, another possibility is a hardware
problem.
