Computer Freezes Opening .ppt from network location

R

Rick

We have Xp Home computers connected to our network. The
network is Novell 5. Powerpoint files stored on the
network cause the computer to freeze and require manual
shutdown. We are using Novell client 4.9. The
Powerpoint version is Office 2000.

Suggestions please!!!

TIA,
Rick

I would suggest copying the files to your local directory. Work on that copy
of the presentation and save your changes. Finally, save it back to the
network drive. This eliminates quite a bit of potential problems, including
excessive network traffic (which is probably part of the problem you are
seeing now.)
