Computer Error message

My son has a HP laptop running Windows XP Home on a AMD processor. He
wrote me this morning asking:

"having an error problem...it comes up G84EqWSU.exe. It comes
up all the time every couple of min. ran spybot and clamwin. no
help. 5 problems there as well. Any thoughts?"

I don't know what the other five errors are, but does anyone know where
I can go for help?

A Google search for "G84EqWSU.exe" brought up nothing. When you don't get
any hits for a file name on Google, chances are high that it is a malware
file. Therefore, in spite of running Spybot and Clamwin (not a great av
solution, btw), I suspect your son's computer is infected.

Go through these general malware removal steps systematically -

Include scanning with David Lipman's Multi_AV and follow instructions to do
all scans in Safe Mode. Please see the special Notes regarding using
Multi_AV in Vista.

When all else fails, get guided help. Choose one of the specialty forums
listed at the first link. Register and read its posting FAQ. PLEASE DO NOT
POST LOGS IN THE MS NEWSGROUPS.

If you can't do the work yourself (and there is no shame in admitting this
isn't your cup of tea), take the machine to a professional computer repair
shop (not your local equivalent of BigComputerStore/GeekSquad). Please be
aware that not all local shops are skilled at removing malware and even if
they are, your computer may be so infested that Windows will need to be
clean-installed. If possible, have all your data backed up before you take
the machine into a shop.

It is probably mal-ware. Unfortunately some mal-ware when it
gets in . . . disables the systems mal-ware detectors. To
get around the problem, you should really consider having a
UBCD4Win boot disk on hand. If you boot from the CD the
problem of the mal-ware on the hard disk disabling mal-ware
detectors.
