computer doesn't reconnect network drives

I have windows XP professional SP1 on my system. The
problem is if the network cable is unplugged then plugged
back in, XP doesn't automatically see the network drives
are operational and reconnect the mapped drives. I have
to manually on all network computers, reconnect the
drives myself. Please can anyone help me?! After doing
this almost everyday to each computer, you feel very
frustrated. I have looked but cannot find the problem.
Thank you in advance!

I am having the same problem. Does the computer
periodicaly lose connectivity to the network drives? In
my scenario, after losing connectivity, the computer
seems to run very slow. The only solution is to log off,
then log back on, then work for awhile unitl it happens
again. I've replaced the NIC, cable and port and still
the same happens!

Try opening your network connection and click on repair.
I have a network icon on my system tray that I right
click and an option is repair. I'm trying to figure out
how I can keep it from dropping so I don't have to do
that, but for now that works for me.
