Computer Description

[Fizzikal]

This is a minor issue but unable to enter any info beside
Computer Description under Computer Name when open
System in Control Panel. Had puter description typed in
when 1st installed XP Pro, but noticed it blank after SP2.
Unsure if that has anything to do with that or something else.
Any ideas appreciated.

Hi,

Look for this value in the registry:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\lanmanserver\parameters

In the right pane look for: srvcomment

Does srvcomment it exist? If so double click on it and change the
Value Name to what you like.

You will need Administrator level access to make this change.

The srvcomment did not exist.
So I double checked the networking parameters and I noticed the computer did
not have "File and Print Sharing" installed. As soon as I installed it, I
was able to add a comment to the "computer description field" and the
srvcomment then showed in the registry.
