computer crashed - need help!!!

ummmm yesterday i was on my computer perfectly fine but
then i uninstalled an annoying web tool bar and it
prompted me to restart my computer to finish the
uninstallation. when i tried to get back on my computer
it took me to the welcome screen is where my icon is that
says hayley. i clicked on it, it took me to my desktop
picture and then it took me right back to the welcome
screen and said i was being logged off.

i tried repairing my xp professional but i don't know the
administrator password so i can;t get passed that step.
then i tried to re-install xp and i got some manifest
error saying one of the files needed to complete the
installation was missing.

i have a back up ghost version of my harddrive but i
really don't want to use this because all of my files
will be erased. and it will take months to get it all
back. is there a way to access ms DOS and try and save
some of my files? or is there a way to get the
administrator password? ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED. I
HAVE EXAMS COMING UP IN ABOUT A WEEK, AND THERE WAS STUFF
ON THERE I REALLY NEED TO ACCESS.

Have you tried logging on to safe mode?
Perhaps you can enter your account that way

Try tapping the F8 key on starting computer,select,safe-mode,enter as ADM
Go to run, type:cmd In cmd type:Sfc /Scannow When the graph starts, instal
xp cd,exit the info page. For recovery, press the enter key for password.

Then why use Ghost at all if it is not going to help you.

Second thought. Set up your computer correctly, with all your personal
files on a different partition, and utilize Ghost as it is meant to be used
for your Windows partition. Then you would not be making this statement!
