computer continuously restarts

My computer will not boot up even in safe mode. It keeps
coming back to the screen that Windows could not start
Normally. I tried to use the recovery console from the xp
disk, but it is not accepting the administrator password
that I set up. Any ideas??

My experience has been that this is hardware related.
Usually due to RAM chips that are defective or too slow
for the system. It would be worth a try to use some RAM
that you know is good and see if this solves the problem.
