I have two desktops and two laptops with XP Pro, networked by a wireless
router at home. I have a large partition on one desktop for storing
documents, pictures, downloads, etc. It serves as an access and storage
point for the entire network and contains several hundred folders.
Yesterday, I noticed that one of the desktops can see all of the
folders, but not all the files in many of the folders in this storage
partition. The partition is in the other desktop.
This situation didn't exist the day before. The other three computers
still see everything normally. I copied a couple of folders with
contents from the problem computer's desktop and pasted them in the
storage partition. The folders arrived normally, but their contents
disappeared during the transfer.
There are no viruses or spyware in any of the computers and there are no
program files in any of the storage partition folders. Windows updates
and drivers are all current.
The problem desktop seems to see everything else in every other network
drive. I poked around in its settings today and didn't find anything
unusual.
What could be causing this? Thanks..
