Hi all,

I tried to switch on my PC, there is no activity from the PC. Power
lights is on, fan are spinning, hard disk activity light is always on,
no display on the monitor, status light on the CD drive is always on.

I have a Gigabyte motherboard, Geforce4 video card, P4 CPU, and
seagate HDD.

I tried to flash bios by removing the bios battery, but didn't work
either.

Any help is appreciated.

hi,

did u removed the processor before ?. Are you hearing any beep sound when u
switch on the pc eventhough no activity / display ?

Try the following as per the given sequence.
1. Try removing the hard disk and RAM and reinstate.
2. Try connecting hard disk with the new cable.

Reply for all the above

Disconnect EVERYTHING except CPU and PSU, no memory. Should get series
of beeps for memory error, otherwise is CPU, motherboard or PSU.

Certainly dont mess with the bios. Removing battery & connecting the 2
reset terminal together will reset bios, which may be a bad idea in
some cases. Dont even think about flashing it.

Stripping as many peripherals as poss off temporarily will help narrow
it down, and might get part of it working again right away. I'd remove
fdd, hdds, & all cards, then see if it behaves reasonably on power up.
If it does, add bits until it doesnt: the one you just added is then
the problem. If it malfunctions when all youre left with is mobo, psu,
cpu and ram, one of those will be the trouble, but to find out whcihh
you'd need to swap parts with a similar system.
