//computer/c accessible while //computer is not

trying to connect to a computer on my network named "DELL" and i can only
access //dell/c but not //dell. it would be a lot easier if that directory
was availible. i get the error message "//dell is not accessible access
denied" it doesnt ask me for a password, and overall its really awesome,
syke. any help would be appreciated. ive tried a bunch of stuff on here
already and none of it has worked. ill probably just try formatting and
reinstalling windows. or should i get a mac...?
 
er yeah, sorry i wrote the slashes the wrong way. it works as \\computer\c
but not \\computer
