computer browser

Hi there,
I am getting on many XP machines, part of an NT4 domain, with 2 Wins
servers, error 7023 see below.
error 7023, service control manager
The Computer Browser service terminated with the following error:
This operation returned because the timeout period expired.
Is it something on the network I should look at?

Did you, and if yes, how did you turn off the Firewall service? See if

Hi John,
Yes, firewall service is disabled from services, windows firewall ad
internet connection sharing service, these are desktop machines.

From Sven Jaanson (eventid.net):

"- Service: Computer Browser - In a Windows XP SP2 environment, if you
have disabled Windows Firewall/ICS service trough services manager this
behavior is normal. Just enable this service and turn the firewall off
from Control Panel -> Windows Firewall. That is if you need the Computer
Browser service at all."

The Microsoft link I gave earlier says that a hotfix is available to
address the problem.
