computer boots very slow

I have an xp home machine that boots up very slowly. This
seems to have happened after I uninstalled zone labs
firewall and pest patrol and installed norton firewall
instead. any ideas?

Well, disable Norton firewall and reboot and see if starts up faster. That
should give you a clue.
