My computer (O/S Windows Xp Home Edition) is behaving in an errattic
manner. Throwing up various error reports.

It generated the following window:

16 bit MS-DOS SYS

C:\XGSSM~1.exe

C:\Win\SYS32\Auto.exe.NT.

This file is not suitable for running MS-DOS MIcrosoft Windows Applications

and also

Cannot create 1Expler.exe

I do not understand what all this means can someone please help and
explain, if possible, what I have to do to correct the situation and
restore my computer to a stable state.

Thanking you in anticipation

Hi Don

Please see if the following article helps:

"Error Message When You Install or Start an MS-DOS or 16-Bit Windows Based
Program"

Will,

Thanks for that,it seems to fit the bill snugly. Its not my computer
that is not working, but my brothers, he has no Internet access so I
will pass it on to him.

Can you throw any light on the other item, namely :

"> Cannot create 1Expler.exe"

I, not sure about the spelling!!!

Thanks again.

Don
