i have winxp oem version running on my custom made
computer. There are no hardware or software conflicts
that i am aware of. I have even reinstalled winxp to try
to remedy the problem, but the computer still shuts down
whenever it wants to. I have Norton System Works 2003
that i ran to check for problems, none. i have all the
current security patches from microsoft and all the
current drivers.
i am at a loss, please, if anyone can tell me what is
causing this to happen i will greatly appreciate it.

As a first step in diagnosing the problem, disable auto shutdown, so the
error message will be shown...

Control Panel|SYSTEM|ADVANCED tab|STARTUP AND RECOVERY SETTINGS button.
UNcheck the "automatically restart" box.
