Computer answering phone calls when not online

My computer is acting like a fax machine and I don't know what to change to fix! When I receive a call, as soon as I answer the computer comes on the line with noise like a fax machine. Also, the computer is dialing my own phone at various times through the day. Any help appreciated!
 
Hi,

DIsable the autoresponse in the pc under the printers folder. Right-click
the fax entry and choose properties for this.

Then, check your system for spyware, as the random dial-outs are a sign that
something insidious is installed. These can help:

Adaware www.lavasoft.de
Spybot www.safer-networking.org

This one can help you avoid these programs from being installed in the first
place:
