compressing access 2000 files

my access 2000 datase is over 2gb what program can i use to compress it to fit onto a cd or several cd's. iam a novice any assistance would be appreciated

Hi, Mike. Post your question in a newsgroup devoted to MS Access. The
regulars there will be experts. This newsgroup is for the operating
system and while someone reading the group might also know Access well,
your chance of getting a good answer will be greater in a different

Mike is not is not asking an Access problem. I believe he's asking for
advice on how to compress a large file to fit onto one CD, or spread the
compressed file across multiple CD's if too big to fit on one.

While I haven't tried it, from looking at the "help" file for Winzip, it
can "split" files into designated sizes. Therefore try using Winzip and
follow the instructions. Make one big zip file, then split into sizes
to fit on multiple CD's. http://www.winzip.com/

Winzip also does "spanning", but that would require speciality CD
writing software, I think.

There are probably other ways to solve this.

if you use winzip or winrar the DB should compress about 6 to 1 ratio
