Compressed Zip Folder Reliable?

Hi, we have recently had 2003 server installed and have started using the
compress zip folders functionality rather than installing winzip. I have been
told that it isn't very reliable and causes problems for people receiving the
files who do not have XP. Has anyone experienced problems?

I have noticed that in Outlook 2003 if you do not have the 'use word editor'
option selected then you can not view the zipped folders when you try to add
an attachment which I found odd?

Hi SJH,

I have been using the Zip function i WinXP for years without any of
the problems you mention. I doubt the function is any different in
2003 server. To confirm this you should post this question to one of
the Server newsgroups.

I have never used Word Editor in OL03 I use plan text and zip
attachments show up in a box under the subject after being dragged to
the new email in question.

Thanks for the reply, weird things have been happening intermittently since
we have had a new server installed. I have another post in the 2003 server
group about these. I just tried the zip attachments again with and without
word editor selected and this time it worked both ways. Last time they were
not shown when you browsed for them to be able to add to a message. Other
things we are experiencing is the paste and delete function not working and
text being stripped from emails. Logging off and back on solves the
paste/delete functions but that obviously becomes a pain. Beginning to wonder
if maybe it is user profile corruption? We didn't have any of these problems
before Dec on our old 2000 server :-(.

Good to know you haven't experienced any probs with xp compression tho...
