compressed zip files taking over. please help

all my programmes seem to have been taken over by letters and numbers which when i highlight say compressed zip file. i cannot open anything and i dont know how they got there. when i view a web page a new zip file appears. can anybody help

Sounds like a virus to me. Have you downloaded and
installed the very latest virus definitions? If you
haven't then do that then a full system scan.
