Compressed Zip Files Appear Empty

I use various programs with built-in compression
capabilities. Many times Win XP compression utility
cannnot "see" the files within the zip file.... the zip
file appears empty. WinXP can't extract these files
either. It seems the only utility that will work is
Winzip 9.x or higher.

Why is it Windows cant see or extract the files, and what
if anything can I do about it?

I have searched high and low on the internet for
information regarding "empty zip files" (that are not
actually empty) and as to WHY this is happening. I have
read that others are having this problem... maybe some
relationship to java programs that have built-in
compression capabilities. Other programs I use are not
Java.

Any help or comments?
Thx :)

Do you have any other Zip program installed on your computer?

It's possible that the "empty zip files" you're seeing were created with
Winzip 9.x, using an encryption or compression scheme that isn't
compatible with other older archiving programs, including previous
versions of Winzip.

Like I said, there are a couple of other programs (MP3+G
Toolz and ). I did not use WinZip to compressed these --
but Winzip 9x is the only program that I know of that can
upzip them or even display its contents.

I was just wondering what make Windows XP Zip utility or
any other program not be able to open them, and if there
is any where anywhere that i can follow through with to
get more information?

Many thanks
