Composed mail sitting in Outbox

Setting up a new laptop and have never used Windows Mail before. I've set up
my e-mail accounts using the correct settings for incoming and outgoing mail
(pop.myisp.net and smtp.myisp.net). I can receive mail now, but my composed
messages are just sitting in the Outbox and not sending. I'm not getting an
error message so I'm assumig that the outgoing mail server is connecting.
I've checked everywhere I could think of in the account settings and can't
find anything which would cause my mail to not be sent. I've checked my
"Sent" message folder and, of course it's empty, so it's not that they're
sent and residing in two folders.

Thanks for any help you can provide to this seemingly easy issue, which I
can't resolve. :)

What happens when you click on Send All? (You can access it by clicking
on the little down-arrow next to Send/Receive.)

Also, which antivirus are you running? Some of them cause problems with
Windows Mail over time.

Mail remains in the Outbox when clicking "send all". I read one of your
previus posts involving downloading a "fix" and it resulted in a message
coming back that the repair was not needed for my system (64 bit). I use
ATT.Net as my outgoing mail and Charter as my incoming. I changed my SMTP
settings to reflect the recommended Server Port of 465, rather than the
default 25. Still nothing being sent. There seems to be a lot of topics on
this issue, so I'll keep looking unless you can come up with another
solution. I receive mail from my Charter server just fine (Incoming Pop3
Port set at 110) Thanks again......

In addition to what Gary said go to Tools> Options> under the Send tab put a
check next to the box that says "Save copy of sent messages in the 'Sent
Items' folder and then a check mark in the box that says "Send Messages
immediately". That will allow you to send each individual email when you
click the Send button in a new message window, Forwards, Reply/all or new
messages.
As far as email being stuck in the Outbox I believe Vista Service Pack 1
(Sp1) resolved that issue. You should verify you have Sp1 at least
installed.

I don't allow my antivirus software to automatically scan/monitor my Email
client. Because, if the Send and Receive all did not work, then as Gary
suspects it would then be your 3rd party antivirus software causing your
problem and you did say you had verified your account setting to be correct.

Did you all so check the box next to: "This server requires a secure
connection (SSL)" ?
Please answer Gary's question about which and type 3 rd party antivirus
software you are using.

Using the AT&T server for sending and the Charter server for receiving
can be tricky, because it requires separate credentials for the two servers.
If you need more help with this, let us know all the settings you are using.
