We have a competition comming to PCReview in the VERY VERY near future :D

We got confirmation this morning from the company. I'm not going to tell you what it is yet, but I'll give you a clue:

  • Its worth about £70/$100
  • Its top of its range
  • Its certainly unique!
  • Its not something small like a heatsink/fan ;)

hehe, a little late ;) (https://www.pcreview.co.uk/competition.php)

Ironically, 2nd prize was going to be an LCD! I got 8 16x2s (with backlight) for £16 so I thought about wiring a couple up to give as prizes, havnt had time yet though with all the uni work

Not Matrix Orbital standard, but LCD Smartie can use // LCDs ;)

oh lol. I feel stupid now :)

8 16x2's for £16 is nice too... I wouldn't pass up an offer like that (I assume they were from an auction?). Yeah LCD Smartie works ok (not in xp mind) as does center and crystalcontrol (lcdmax maybe too?).

Take the easy way out when you're wiring, I've donemore than 20 lcd's yet and I've not met one that you need to put contrast control on (so just earth pin 3), also variable backlight brightness is a little silly.

Cheers,

r.

Yup - from ebay. Yeah, I usually do exactly the same, contrast max, backlight max :)

I spent ages fiddling with LCD Smartie before I realised it wasnt compatible with WinXP, and even chucked a // LCD because of it
