Complete Shut Down after being Idle

Help. My laptop has decided to power off after being idle for about 15 mins.
Very bizarre. Started happening after installing SP2. My screen saver will
come on, and then, inexplicably, it simply shuts off, like the plug is being
pulled. Doesn't matter what programs are up, or if I am on the internet. I
am baffled. I have Hibernate turned off. What could be causing this? Is
this a known issue after SP2? I have an HP xh675 laptop. Thanks for any
assistance, trying to avoid a clean re-install of Windows XP, what a pain in
the bazooka!

Advanced Computer Power Interface(ACPI) controls the standby and shutdown features. It's likely something in your BIOS is
conflicting with your screen saver. The easiest alternative is a different screen saver, or perhaps an upgraded BIOS.

One common problem appearing after SP2 is relic damage from a spyware repair. A Repair setup of XP might fix that.

Thank you, Mark. I'll try turning off my screen saver entirely and see if
that makes a difference. You then mention a "repair setup" of XP? How and
where do I go to do that? This may very well be the culprit as I run AdAware
as well as Spybot on a pretty regular basis.
