Compatible cartridge Epson C80 Print problems

Help, I seem to have completely killed my Epson Stylus C80 inkjet
printer. Someone advised that compatible cartridges were the way to
go so I purchased a full set. You guessed it they were completely
useless and it has never printed colour since.

The printer has been standing idle for a while and it will not even
print in black.

Can anyone advise of a cure for this situation? I am reluctant to
spend the £50 for Epson cartridges and find that it is a hardware
issue and when I can get a new printer for not much more than the cost
of the cartridges.

Thanks in anticipation.

Nothing wrong with the cartridges.
Read previous posts in this NG concerning clogged printheads.

You don't say whether you've complained to the supplier and any answers ?
Some cartridge flush products are available now which are largely ammonia
based. Windolene for instance will mostly do the same job and flush the
system through.
A good plan is to fill a spare cartridge ( or your apparent defunct
compatibles) with the mix and attempt to print a few pages. This cleans from
within and will clear blockages.
With my invoice C80 for instance I've used JetTec (naturally as I sell them)
exclusively for the past 2 years: not one single hitch.
Some compatible suppliers have been known to supply normal dye based inks
for a printer designed for pigmented or the JetTec "Lightfast" inks.
Microbubbles will cause the greatest problem and the C80 reacts best to
printing on plain absorbent papaer untill ink flows freely.

Some C80 questions:
Has anyone found a pigment ink for reinking the C80 that works well?
Has Durabrite been replicated yet?
Has anyone found a pigmented ink cartridge other than from Epson that works
well?

Thanks,
Larry

Thanks Tony, I have tried all sorts of different things but it still
will not budge and as i am not the most PC literate person in the
world I have decided to cut my losses and buy a new one (but not
another Epson as the cartridge prices are crazy). I'll put it on e-bay
(someone will buy it!) and get some money back that way. I have looked
at the Canon i350 and their cartridges seem reasonable as the printer
is mainly used for the kids and some B&W printing for me.

Does JetTec work on most printers?

Thanks again for your response.

Regards Gary
