I have vista Basic, but it doesn't install almost anybody peripheral as mp3
player or mass storage. when i connect the peripheral to laptop, Vista
recognize the new hardware, but it goes directly on the web to search for
drivers. I'd like continue to install drivers manually as i could do with
windows xp....besides today i've tried to install a mass storage (cypress),
but i couldn't because windows update hasn't found driver, drivers on
installation cd doesn't work with vista and on the cypress' web site i've not
found drivers for vista....help me pleas, i don't buy a new mass storege!
I've bought only one years ago!

As Mick said, there is no way around it. If the CD does not have Vista
driver, and the manufacturer website doesn't either, then you're out of
luck, I'm afraid.

But it sounds to me like your mass storage device (an external hdd,
perhaps?) is a couple of years old, in which case the manufacturer will
probably not be relasing Vista driver for it. Looks like you're going to
have to buy another one...

As you think, my mass storage is an external hdd. The manufacturer is
Cypress and I've bought it only one years ago on December by ebay.com, but i
don't know when it is been built...if it is too old can i begin to cry?? With
my Xp laptop it works perfectly without installing any driver.....this the
thing that I don't understand really...
