Compatabilty Issue

I need the ability to see notes on presenter's note screen while showing the
actual presentation on overhead screen. Does this require dual monitors? I
am using Office 2000 and I cannot get this to work. If I upgrade to
Powerpoint 2007, can I continue to use the rest of the Office 2000 package
without upgrading the whole suite? Does Powerpoint 2007 require dual screens
for notes also?

PPT 2007 (and 2003 and 2002, for that matter) have what is known as
"presenter's view," which allows you to do what you want. Presenter's View
does require dual monitors.

You can add PPT 2007 to your installation. I think 2000 is an upgrade
qualifier as well, so you should be able to use that (but check first to be
sure) to upgrade to 2007. I'd recommend keeping 2000 around also and not
letting the upgrade uninstall it. 2007 is very very different than 2000, and
you may find some things much harder to do or understand in 2007.

In addition, you want to be aware that there's no way to turn off the
2007-style animation features, so animations you did in 2000 may not work
the same way in 2007.

Also, I would install Excel 2007. Without it, you won't get the benefit of
PPT 2007's new charts, which rely on Excel. You'll be stuck with the
old-style charts. And if you use Send to Word, you'll want to have Word 2007
just for ease of use, although no changes were made to that area (that I'm
aware of, anyway).
