comparing documents

I am working with word97. I sent aseries of documents for proofreading
and received them corrected, but the proofreader didn’t mark th
corrections.
I want to insert the corrections into my original documents. I foun
word97 a feature “tools>track changes>compare documents” but I don’
know uf this can help me or how to use it.
If anybody knows – please advise.

This is just what you want. Open one of the document versions and choose
that command. You'll get a dialog allowing you to browse for the second
document to be compared. The markup (insertion vs. deletion) will depend on
which document you open first (it usually takes me two tries to get it
right).
