Compacting Mail

I keep getting an error when I try to compact my Files in Windows Mail.
Cannot compact Files because Windows Mail is in use by another Program!
Need some help,Please.

Does it help if you reboot, then start Windows Mail as the first operation
after
the reboot, then close it down without doing anything else, and select the
compact
option?

An annoying feature of Windows Mail is that you are unable to manually
compact when you want to. This small freeware utility enables you to do
this.

You run the utility with Windows Mail closed.
