cant compact messages

ive read most of everything on here abut compacting messages and cant seem to
fix my problem. my problem is every time i get out of windows mail it tells
me to compact my messages, so i try to but it never does compact them it just
opens windows mail back up, ive went under the tool bar and maintence and it
has it doing it every 100 times, but i just cant compact it for some reason.
anyone have any ideas?

okay, im not the best with computers so i have to ask what do i need to do
with the suggestion you gave me?

Did you go to that first link?
Did you download and install the WMUtil program from that link?
In order for me to help you, you have to let me know at what point you are stuck.

when i close out the mail and it askss me to compact and i click on ok it
tells me windows mail didnt shutdown correctly and is looking for a problem,
then it just opens my mail back up, and makes me log back in.

Go to Start | Search and type msconfig. Then disable all startup items and
non-MS services and reboot. Then open WinMail and then close it see if you
can compact okay then. You can then selectively re-enable the startup items
to figure out which is causing the problem.

i tried what you said to do steve and it did the same thing, says win mail
didnt shut down correctly and is searching for a fix and would let me know.
same thing it always says.

thank you mr. gary, ive downloaded win live and it works great so far. one
more question though, will winlive compact them easier? or do i need to do
something different? thanks for the patience and help!!

Windows Live Mail in general has fewer bugs than Windows Mail.
I don't know specifically about compacting, but it has never given me
any trouble in Windows Live Mail.
