Compact Now doesn't work

I'm trying to compact my outlook folder, but it doesn't work. I've deleted a
lot of emails, cleaned the trash and when I press compact now, it takes one
second to compact, and when I check, the file is still with the same size.
What should I do?

Compaction will only work if you have removed 10% or more of the Outlook
data. If you are using Outlook 2002 or 2003, compaction takes place
automatically.

the (insert latest virus name here) virus, all mail sent to my personal
account will be deleted without reading.

Some times it takes multiple attempts to get the file to compact. You might
also want to run ScanPST.EXE on the file to check it for errors.
