After Installing Windows XP Professional SP2 on my IBM Thinkpad 600E, the
Communication Ports have become unavailable. Com 1 shows "device not working
error 43", Com 2 "device will not start". All attempts at shifiting resource
settings through device manager and Think Pad manager, as well as disabling
all othe I/O devices have not solved the problem. Uninstalling XP (back to
98SE) solves the problem. When XP is reinstalled, problem resurfaces. No new
drivers available from IBM to address potential problem.
