Communication between NT and Unix boxes

Hello All.
I need to write two applications. One will resides on the Windows NT box and
second on Unix box.
Both applications have to stay in listener mode and communicate to each
other thru the specified port. NT app. will send some data to the Unix. Unix
will perform some validations and respond back to NT.

Any suggestions????? or Examples.
I'm not sure how to handle this on the Unix side.
