I am using Word Xp Professional at work. The way comments are handled has changed in this version of Word. I edit documents and put my comments at the end of the document; I have noticed that this process has some problems: 1) the comments no longer indicate the page number on which the comment is made 2) when printed, every format change is listed on its own separate line which makes for an enormous printed markup document 3) I cannot delete a blank line in the comments section, nor can I delete an entire comment 4) comments no longer have brackets in the text (for a corresponding comment number in the comment section). How can I remedy these problems? My customer has to navigate through 60 pages of comments, some of which only refer to a deleted period or a moved comma. Please advise as this is costing my business a lot of time and effort. Thank you

I haven't experimented with this, but does "List of Markup" always print
everything, or is it possible to print just the comments if only the
comments are displayed? It is certainly possible to delete comments and to
edit them in the Reviewing Pane, and I don't know why you wouldn't be seeing
the brackets in the text (though I admit they're not very easily visible).

Yes, when I print the list of markups, every comment prints, no matter how small or inconsequential. I can delete the comments in the Review Pane, but I cannot delete the space provided for the comments and the entire line prints, even though it is empty. So, in one document, I have some 12-15 pages of comment lines with nothing in them

Thanks for your response. Do you know of anything I can do?

I think we're using "comments" to mean something different. If you're
referring to all types of markup (insertions, deletions, formatting changes,
etc.), then what you say would make sense. If you're trying to remove
tracked changes, have you tried accepting them?
