comments in a table

I have a database in which users can make comments on their work progress
using a subform. Each comment is stored in a table, however sometimes the
whole comment is shown and sometimes only the first 2 or three words. Any
explanations?
 
Sometimes hitting <Enter> puts a CR (carriage return) in a field. Thus,
only the characters preceding the CR would be visible to start...
