I have a dell laptop. It goes in and out of standby just find generally. But
frequently if I leave it in standby for a while it wakes up by itself. I
have no wake on lan or wake events set in cmos. I've turned off scheduled
events all together. It even happens with no applications running. I can
look at taskmanager and verify there's nothing unexpected running. I run a
very minimalist system anyway.
If I close the lid I verify lights indicate standby. It can stay that way
for hours, but sometimes I find the power light has come steady on and the
fan is running. When I open it it's already awake. Can be on AC or battery.
Using XP Pro SP 2. I asked Dell support and they had me flash the lastest
bios and video driver update. What else can be waking it up? Is there
anything in the Event Viewer I can look for that would give a clue?
Thanks,
Tom
