Combining Outlook 2003 & 2007 database in one system

I maintain a dual-boot system with XP/Outlook2003 on one partition and
Vista/Outlook2007 on the other partition.
As I spend equal time in both environements it would be nice if I could use
the database of Outlook2003 in Outlook 2007 (or vice versa).
Is there any way that I could do that?

To access the same, or both data files they (data files) would need to be
located in a folder to which both o/s have full access

I wouldn't know why I would not have full access, but how do I make the
settings?

XP's file protections and Vista's file protections don't play well together
in the user-specific folders. Create a folder at the root of one of your
hard drives and move your PST to that folder. You should be able make that
PST the the delivery location for each O/S then.

Ok, Brian, so if I understand you correctly, I move my Outlook.pst file
(which is now only used in Outlook2003 under XP) from its current location to
say the root of my C-drive.
And then change the settings for both Outlook2003 and Outlook2007 to point
to that new location. .
Is that correct?

I have been trying but run into problems:
- putting the pst-file in the root of my XP partition does not work, Outlook
Vista (2007) won't accept that file
- putting the pst-file in the root of my vista partition will allow outlook
vista to see all my data. but now, i am not able to change the settings in
outlook XP. I can add a second pst file but do not know how to remove the
original one. How do I set which one is the default?

PS I just copied the pst-file to another location, no changes to the original.

Had you simply moved the file instead of copying it, Outlook would have
complained that it couldn't find its folders and given you a chance to
browse to the new PST locaiton.

If you can add it as a second PST, change the delivery location in Control
Panel's Mail applet and remove the pointer to the old PST.

OK, it is working now, thank you for your help.
In the end, once I knew what the mechanism was, it turned out to be easier
to allow sharing on the 2003 (XP) version and have 2007 (vista) use that
PST-file.
If I could also make my PDA (Palm via Chapura) work under Vista, live would
be (almost) perfect.

Sorry Brian, I misled you, the problem is not the Chapura version but the
fact that there is no Vista driver available for PalmOS 3.1H2 which is what
my old PDA uses.
Thank you anyway.
