combatibility issue

I am running XP/SP2 and am trying to get a medical office
program to run. It is currently running on a older
computer with Windows 95. However, it will not run even
after changing its properties to run in Windows 95
combatibility mode. I thought it may be a DOS based
program but it will not start from a command prompt
either. Any ways to get around this? I have a second hard
drive I could load 95 on - what is the + and - of this
and could I easily switch back and forth without
rebooting?

If your older program won't run on your newer computer even in
Compatibility Mode, then it won't run under XP. It probably isn't a DOS
program, but not all older software will run on a newer operating
system.

If you create a dual-boot system, then you would have to reboot to get
from operating system to another. You could keep the old computer (or
get an older computer) and run Win95 on it for your program. Or you
could try running something like Microsoft's Virtual PC on the new
computer and installing Win95 in it. In that case, you wouldn't need to
reboot. Here's a link to information about Virtual PC:

Good luck,

Some older programs will just not run on XP no matter what
you do, you can install 95/98 on another hd, however it's
usually recomended to install 95/98 first, then XP.
But this can be gotten around by a product called boot
magic, it will give you a menu to choose which os to boot
to. I suggest you get away from 95 and go to 98.
