Some software I use cannot find COM Port 2.

In Device Manager there are no COM ports showing.

The software used to work ok.

Haven't made any changes.

What happens if you try to re-install the COM port, using Control Panel, Add
Hardware?

Thanks Karl but I have tried that and it says the hardware (a usb smartkey)
is working properly.

I'm not sure we're talking about the same thing. If there's no COM port
listed in Device Manager, then you can reinstall the COM port. I would not
be surprised if Device Manager says that your USB smartkey is working fine
without the COM port existing, but if your software requires a COM port,
then you might need to reinstall a COM port.

Or could it be that the software is wrongly configured to be looking for COM
ports instead of USB? Why would a USB device need a COM port to
communicate?
