Com ports 2 & 3

Does anyone know what com ports 2 & 3 are assigned to in XP Pro.

I have not used XP, but a friend has some software the can only use ports
1-4. He has been able to find what is using 1 and 4 and re assign/re direct
them to higher port numbers, I think he is using some form or com port
expansion board.

Does what I am saying and asking here make any sense to anyone?, I was
speaking to the chap briefly in aero club last night, and said I would see
if I could get any info I could for him.

What is the actual problem? Is he trying to connect some serial device?

XP has been known to mis-interpret data from some serial devices.

I do not think there is a problem more than that he needs to have COM ports
1-4 free for another program that can only use 1-4.

XP is showing ports 2-3 in use but not what is using them. He has been able
to re assign 1 and 4 but not 2-3 because they are in use by unknow
apps/hardware.
