COM PORTS 1-4 DISABLED

The problem is that I am not finding ports COM1-COM4 at all on my computer.
The device manager does not list any COM ports at all! I even went to BIOS
screen at start-up, but could not find any COM ports. I need to restore
registry for the files controlling these ports. I can use the restore disc,
but I need to know which registry to files to restore so I don'y not have to
restore entire system. The COMdisable tool I downloaded from the Microsoft
site does not seem to work either...I keep geting message "disable is not a
recognized command!" when I enter command prompt as directed by COMdisable
web page.

Find your ports here if you have a printer connected.
Start>Control Panel>Printers and faxes
Rightclick your printer>Properties>Ports tab
You'll see your LPT and COM ports.
There you can add, delete and configure.
