When I boot up my display colour quality defaults to 8bit which I change in
settings to 32bit, & everything is fine until I have to boot up again, & it
has defaulted once again to 8bit... This happens every time I boot up & I
have tried all that I can think of to right the problem...

Including updating your video drivers?

First try updating your video drivers (see below). If that doesn't solve the
issue, the video card itself is probably dying. Test by uninstalling it and
swapping out for a known-working card. If the replacement card works, then
discard the original one.

Never get drivers from Windows Update. Get them from:

1. The device mftr.'s website; OR
2. The motherboard mftr.'s website if hardware is onboard; OR
3. The OEM's website for your specific machine if you have an OEM computer
(HP, Dell, Sony, etc.).

Read the installation instructions on the website where you get the drivers.

To find out what hardware is in your computer:

1. Read any documentation you got when you bought the computer.
2. If the computer is OEM, go to the OEM's website for your specific model
machine and look at the specs (you'll be there to get the drivers anyway)
3. Download, install and run a free system inventory program like Belarc
Advisor. The older Aida32 is good for this, too.

I have downloaded & installed the update to the driver for Nvidia graphics,
but I still have the same problem... I don't have another video card
available to swap for a check on the current one, so I'll have to put this on
the back burner for now... Economics & all that Jazz... Thanks Malke for your
advice:-)
