Colour of dates in calendar

I have a user who when in calendar has different colours for days randomly,
some are white and some are blue and it doesn't matter whether or not they
have an appointment(s) on those dates. I can't find an option that would make
this happen and there is no logically answer I can find.

The only thing that I can think of is that the days that are different
colors must have something unique about them. I know that users can define a
color for days under user formatting/user defined colors. I think that is
probably it. Someone has defined certain colors for certain days.

This happens when you use color categories on all day events and mark items
as busy/tentative.
